Roman Road Estate – First Property

Roman Road acquired our first vineyard in December 2018 on Chittering Valley Road in Lower Chittering and the property is now referred to as Roman Road Estate.  The vineyard is very mature, at ~35 years young, and consists of two Shiraz blocks totalling ~6,000 vines.  Between 2018 and 2023, we carefully tended the vines and sold the resultant grapes to wineries who produced excellent product under their label.

In 2024, we took the leap and produced our first wine under the Roman Road label.  This was our beautiful Rosé produced from the Shiraz vines which we called the Tiffany Rosé 2024, aptly named after our first Speckled Park stud heifer Tiffany who was born in 2022 in the paddock next to the vineyard.  This wine is available for purchase now.  The remaining vintage went into producing our 2024 Shiraz which is still a work in progress and is due for bottling and release in May 2025. The Roman Road Estate harvest for 2025 was completed in late January 2025, and will again produce Rosé and single vintage Shiraz runs.

Brockman Park – Second Property

In September 2023, Roman Road acquired our second vineyard which is called Brockman Park on Chittering Road in Lower Chittering and shares a common boundary with Roman Road Estate.  Again the vineyard is very mature, with some of the first plantings taking place in 1989.  This vineyard consists of four blocks of fruit, being Shiraz (~10,000 vines), Cabernet Sauvignon (~3,000 vines), Chardonnay (~1,200 vines) and Chenin (~3,000 vines).  During the 2024 calendar, our people invested significant time and resources bringing the vineyards back into good condition by focussing on plant nutrition, careful pruning, and water supply.

In January 2025, we excitedly made the decision to produce a Chardonnay/Chenin Sparkling, and separate single vintage Chardonnay and Chenin wines.  The Sparkling and Chardonnay wines are currently in production and the Chenin was picked in early February 2025.  All will be available for purchase in 2025.

During the remainder of 2025, our Roman Road team will tend the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon blocks at Brockman Park with the view of securing contracts for the fruit harvest in 2026.
